A couple days after Mrs. Grigsby was a guest speaker, we welcomed Mr. Grigsby! He went to Boise-Eliot! Mr. Grigsby is an architect responsible for a couple big buildings in Portland. He shared with us some drawing tricks for creating a full person and a face. It was an honor to spend some time with Mr. Grigsby.
About: Mr. Grigsby grew up in a small house on Kerby. In high school, he picked berries and sold them. He couldn't walk upstairs and talk cause he was too clumsy. Kevin His worse subject was PE. He came to Boise-Eliot in 1951. Liliana He had a kindergarten teacher that was black. She was one of the first black teachers in Portland. Nasia He was a daydreamer. He is an architect. Keymora He went to Benson. Cedric He worked at Pennisula Park. He got to see the penguins that stayed there when the zoo was being remodeled. Apple He read about an architect in school. Then he became one. Maylyn He had to buy his own school clothes. He lived 2 houses north of Beech street. Gigi He was clumsy. Kayanna Mrs. Tenora Grigsby paid us a visit last week. She has been friends with my mom for 40 years! Mrs. Grigsby talked to us about the characteristics needed to be successful. She shared some of her personal history with us, too. It was a pleasure to welcome her into our class! About: She grew up in Texas. She came to Washington in 1962. Natasha She went to Portland State University. Apple At her school, there were mostly white students. Keymora She got her Ph, D when she was 50 years old. She has her bachelors and masters degree. When she grew up in Texax, there was a railroad to separate the whites from the blacks and Latinos. Mycah She has a doctorate degree. Nasia She went to college for 2 years. Then she stopped. She went back after 15 years. Kevin She didn't learn about black history. Maylyn Quotes: "There is a browning of America where whites will become the minority."
